Arsenal learn Jeremie Frimpong transfer price as Man Utd stance already revealed

Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong this summer. The Dutchman is seen as having the right qualities for what both clubs are after in the transfer market in terms of a defensive signing.

Frimpong predominantly plays as a right-back for Leverkusen and his speed, matched with his passing ability, makes him an attractive proposition for the Gunners. Arsenal want to sign an ‘offensive’ right-back & are willing to pay up to €40million (£34m) for a ‘development-capable player’, according to SPORTBILD.

A report from Sky Sports underline interest from the north Londoners, United, Barcelona and Bayern - as well as stating that his asking price has been set at €40million (£34m) plus add-ons by Leverkusen as they brace themselves for offers. This matches up to the price tag Arsenal are willing to pay for a defender this summer as they look to add quality cover for Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Frimpong scored nine goals and provided a further 11 assists in just 40 appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions last season. The Dutchman's output from a defensive position highlights his ability - whilst he is capable of playing further forward on the right-wing or on the opposite side.

The 22-year-old's contract is set to expire in 2025 but Leverkusen are expecting to receive a number of appealing transfer proposals for their star defender. Frimpong is thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League - with a report from BILD suggesting he is leaning towards signing for United instead of the Gunners.

Xabi Alonso lauded Frimpong and described the Dutchman as being a ‘special‘ talent. The 22-year-old has plenty of potential and is certainly a player who both Arsenal and United can benefit from having in the squad.
