Arsenal have found out when they will face Chelsea in the Premier League next month.
It's been a disappointing league campaign for the Gunners who sit tenth in the table, eight points off the top six with 33 games played.
They have tended to save their best performances for the Europa League although that was not the case on Thursday night, when they were lucky to come away with a 2-1 defeat to Villarreal, with Nicolas Pepe's crucial penalty providing an away goal that just about kept them in the semi final.
Despite the defeat, it seems that the competition is still Arsenal's best chance of playing any sort of European football next season and speaking ahead of the trip to Newcastle on Sunday, Mikel Arteta admitted the clash with Unai Emery's side next Thursday would be vital for determining the success of his side's season.
"Well, the Premier League is the competition where it is not in our hands to achieve what we wanted to do, because there are other teams in front of us," he said to press.
"The only thing we can control is our performances and results and this is our main focus.
"Then we know that the semi-final is the crucial moment of the season."
However, despite the seeming doom and gloom around the Gunners' Premier League campaign there is still some positive news with the fact that fans are set to return to stadiums for the final matches of the season.
Under the English government's COVID-19 recovery road map spectators will be allowed into sporting venues from May 17.
This means there could be up to 10,000 supporters inside the Emirates Stadium for their final league fixture against Brighton on May 22.
And now, after the Premier League confirmed that matchweek 37 will be rescheduled from the weekend before to midweek on May 18 and 19, there is a chance supporters could be present for the penultimate match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
While the exact date for that has not yet been confirmed the Gunners have found out when they will face London rivals Chelsea.
The game at Stamford Bridge will now take place on Wednesday May 12 at 20:15 BST. Viewers in the UK will be able to view the match on Sky Sports.
