Arsenal launch new 2021/22 away kit - and goalkeepers will wear it too

Adidas and Arsenal have launched a new away kit for next season inspired by the 1971 double winning team and it will benefit the goalkeepers too.

The new strip features a cannon in place of the club crest, the first time the Gunners have donned the logo during the Premier League era.

The last time similar kits were worn was between 1988 - 1990. Back then it was Adidas who made the kit and they will again collaborate with the north Londoners.

The new away kit will be made available as an option for the Arsenal goalkeepers to wear in matches alongside the new home goalkeeper kit.

The pale yellow shirt will also include navy blue branding with Scarlet accents on the sleeve.

The returning cannon crest will also appear on the shorts and socks, which will be navy blue and yellow respectively.

Bernd Leno has already worn this year's away strip in between the sticks, back in November against Wolves.

The reason for the strange choice of shirt was that Leno's opposite number at Wolves, Rui Patricio, arrived with an identical coloured jersey.

Premier League rules state goalkeepers cannot wear the same coloured shirt, despite being at opposite ends of the pitch meaning the German couldn't wear his usual luminous green coloured shirt.

Arsenal will wear the new strip during the 2021/22 season and it will feature the “Arsenal for Everyone” logo on the back of the neck as a celebration of the diversity.

Arsenal for Everyone is the club’s diversity and inclusion campaign which was launched in 2008 to ensure that everyone connected to the club feels an equal sense of belonging.

Adidas have also used their latest technology to try and assist the players with their heat.rdy - keep cool technology allowing individuals to feel cool whilst keeping dry during a game.

Replica versions of the strip feature Aeroready - feel ready technology.

The new kit is available to buy exclusively at adidas.com/football, adidas stores and official club shops.

It will then be sold at select retailers from May 21 2021.
