Arsenal issue injury update as Thomas Partey ruled out of Leeds United trip

Arsenal have confirmed that summer signing Thomas Partey will miss Sunday's clash against Leeds United with a thigh injury.

The midfielder, who has impressed since arriving from Atletico Madrid last month, was substituted at half-time of the Gunners' 3-0 defeat by Aston Villa before the international break with a thigh strain.

The club have now confirmed Sunday's Elland Road trip has come too soon for him and he will be absent as Mikel Arteta's side look to get back to winning ways.

The 27-year-old joins Mohamed Eleneny and Sead Kolasinac on the sidelines after the pair both tested positive for Covid-19 while on international duty for Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina respectively.

Arsenal's poor attacking output could help Leeds!

Arsenal have confirmed both players are asymptomatic.

The Gunners will also be without longer-term absentees Pablo Mari and Gabriel Martinelli who have been out injured since June, although the pair are now both back in training.

Leeds are sweating on the fitness of Kalvin Phillips who is continuing to recover from a shoulder injury, while they are hoping to welcome back Rodrigo following his positive Covid-19 test earlier this month.

Marcelo Bielsa will give an update during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.
