Arsenal Invincible admits his Erling Haaland fear amid Liverpool transfer links

One of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ has admitted he’d fear playing against Liverpool-linked striker Erling Haaland.

With 49 goals in 53 games since his move to Borussia Dortmund in January 2020 – including a tally of 33 so far this season – the prolific Norwegian marksman has become one of the hottest properties in world football.

The Boot Room cite Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth as suggesting that the 20-year-old would be keen on a move to Anfield, telling the Pitch to Post Podcast last month: “His agent Mino Raiola has said that four Premier League clubs would be interested in doing a deal: Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool.”

Now they quote former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, a player who did swap the Bundesliga for the Premier League, as admitting he wouldn’t want to face Haaland.

Despite being part of Arsene Wenger’s side that went through the entire 2003/04 Premier League season unbeaten, the retired Germany international would not relish coming up against such a dangerous opponent if he was still playing.

Lehmann told CBS Sport on Paramount+: “He (Haaland) is probably an unprecedented striker because he is full of speed, very physical and technically very aware.

“And I cannot remember a striker, who I was afraid of.

"But if I was confronted by him now then I would be a little bit scared.”
