Arsenal insert clause into summer transfer deal to buy back attacking midfielder in 2022

Arsenal let a number of players leave the club this summer.

Alex Iwobi made a big-money move to Everton, while Laurent Koscielny made the move back to France to join Bordeaux.

Krystian Bielik, David Ospina, Nacho Monreal, Carl Jenkinson and Takuma Asano all departed, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mohamed Elneny, Eddie Nketiah and Deyan Iliev went out on loan.

But one that went under the radar somewhat was the departure of Kelechi Nwakali.

The 21-year-old failed to make any impression on the first team during his three years with the Emirates outfit.

And he left the club in the summer to move to Spanish second division side Huesca.

He has not played a game for his new team yet, but he is not preparing to stay in Spain, instead, he dreams of returning not only to England, but to Arsenal.

Speaking to ScoreNigeria , Nwakali said: "Arsenal are my dream club.

"I have joined Huesca so as to get enough playing time and be back on track [with my career]."

And Nwakali could be back at Arsenal sooner than many people might think.

That is because the Gunners clearly see something in the young attacking midfielder as they have inserted a buy-back clause into his three-year contract with the Spanish side.

He added: "One thing is sure – it’s not over yet for me at Arsenal because there’s a buy-back option in my contract as well.

"At the end of the contract, it will be whether I’m going back to Arsenal or moving on from there."
