Arsenal injury news and expected return dates with updates on Partey, Elneny and Nelson

Arsenal return to Premier League action this weekend when they travel to Brentford on Sunday (12pm), looking to get back to winning ways after suffering defeat in their last fixture.

The Gunners are currently sat top of the table after five wins from their opening six games. Their home clash against Everton last weekend was postponed following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.

Their Europa League fixture against PSV at the Emirates this Thursday has also been postponed.

Oleksandr Zinchenko returned to the starting line-up for the defeat at Old Trafford, lasting 74 minutes. There were also further minutes of action for Takehiro Tomiyasu after marking his return from injury against Fulham in matchday four.

Here, football.london takes a look at the injury latest within the Arsenal squad ahead of their final fixture before the season's first international break of the season.

Thomas Partey

The Ghanian midfielder featured in the Gunners' opening three league games of the season, but has missed the last three league games against Fulham, Aston Villa and Manchester United.

football.london 's Arsenal reporter Kaya Kaynak tells us that the 29-year-old has a tight right thigh from a training session. However, reports early this week have now suggested he has returned to training in what would be a welcome boost to Mikel Arteta.

Mohamed Elneny

Elneny remains out of action after picking up an injury in the 2-1 victory over Fulham towards the end of August. The 30-year-old had come in to replace Partey alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield prior to the London derby and played the full 90 minutes.

football.london understands that the Egyptian is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

What Arteta has said: "With Mo (Elneny) probably it is a little bit easier and we are talking months."

Reiss Nelson

Young winger Nelson suffered an injury problem in training a few weeks back and is likely set for a significant time on the treatment table, as per Arteta.

What Arteta has said : "Everybody has trained this week and everybody is fine apart from Reiss who you know has been injured for a few weeks now.

"He felt something in training, we scanned him, and the doctor came with bad news. It’s a muscular injury; hopefully, he will be back soon. [We don't know how long for] yet. They need to do another test."
