Arsenal injury blow as Rob Holding ruled out for three weeks

Arsenal defender Rob Holding is likely to be out for around three weeks with a hamstring strain.

Holding felt the problem during the warm-up of Saturday’s match at Manchester City and was subsequently replaced in the starting XI by David Luiz.

He has since undergone tests and is now set to miss around three weeks of action, starting with Thursday's Europa League trip to Rapid Vienna.

The centre-back is also expected to miss the matches against Leicester and Manchester United, but it is hoped he could return after next month’s international break.

Holding was linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer, but has established himself as a regular under Mikel Arteta this season.

The 25-year-old’s absence is a blow to the Gunners, but they will hope to welcome back fellow centre-backs Calum Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi soon.

Chambers has been out since December after suffering a serious knee injury, while Mustafi injured his hamstring in July.

Tomorrow’s match in Vienna, however, is likely to come too soon for either player.
