Arsenal 'in talks' with Nottingham Forest over Carl Jenkinson transfer

Arsenal are in talks with Nottingham Forest as the Championship side eye a move for defender Carl Jenkinson.

Jenkinson played just eight times for the Gunners last term but has featured regularly in pre-season.

The defender is available for around £5million but it is unclear whether Forest would attempt to take him on a loan basis instead.

According to The Guardian, negotiations are underway and Jenkinson could drop down to the second tier before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Crystal Palace have also been linked with a swoop for the 27-year-old who has had two loan spells at West Ham and one at Brimingham since signing for Arsenal from Charlton in 2011.

Palace are keen to sign a full-back before the deadline after Aaron Wan-Bissaka's £50million move to Manchester United .

Eagles boss Roy Hodgson gave Chambers his England debut in 2012.

Meanwhile, another Arsenal defender is on the move after the Gunners accepted a £4.7m fee from Bordeaux for Laurent Koscielny.

The Frenchman refused to travel on the club's pre-season tour in a bid to force a move back to his homeland.

Rennes were also interested but Bordeaux have won the race for the centre-back who played 353 times for Arsenal.
