Arsenal in race against time to seal Yannick Carrasco transfer before deadline

Arsenal are in a race against time to complete a loan deal for Yannick Carrasco before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Gunners head coach Unai Emery is keen to bring in another winger to aid the club’s bid for a top four spot in the Premier League with Denis Suarez’s arrival from Barcelona finalised this morning.

Paperwork on his temporary switch – with an option to make the deal permanent this summer – was being completed today after he underwent a medical with Arsenal having agreed a loan fee in the region of £2.1m.

The Gunners’ attentions turned to Carrasco on Wednesday as talks stalled with Inter Milan over a deal for Ivan Perisic. Inter want £35million this month to complete a deal but Arsenal are only pursuing loan moves.

Carrasco’s club Dalian Yifang have indicated they would be willing to let him move to Emirates Stadium but want Arsenal to subsidise his wages – reportedly £8.8m-a-year – and are keen on signing a replacement with Perisic on their shortlist.

It remains to be seen whether Inter soften their stance in the final hours to help all sides reach a successful conclusion. But an agent involved in discussions over Carrasco moving to AC Milan underlined the current stalemate by telling Sky Sport Italia: “It is very unlikely he’ll move as Dalian Yifang have formally taken him off the market. His name could be back in the headlines over the summer.”
