Arsenal in Albert Sambi Lokonga loan talks with Crystal Palace after agreeing Jorginho deal

Arsenal are in talks with Crystal Palace about loaning Albert Sambi Lokonga for the rest of the season.

The Belgian has struggled for minutes under Mikel Arteta this term, last featuring in the Premier League on October 1.

Palace want to sign a midfielder before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday night and have targeted Lokonga as an option.

Talks are now underway between the two clubs, with negotiations at an early stage. Only a loan move is being discussed, not a permanent switch.

Arsenal are set to boost their own midfield options as they are close to signing Jorginho from Chelsea for £12million.

The Gunners had been desperate to sign a midfielder before the January deadline as Mohamed Elneny is currently out with a knee injury and Thomas Partey also had an injury scare in the FA Cup.

Arsenal had been working to sign Moises Caicedo, but Brighton insisted he was not for sale and rejected two bids, with the second of those worth £70million.
