Arsenal impressed by PSG boss Thomas Tuchel and 'make him top managerial candidate'

Arsenal have reportedly made Thomas Tuchel one of their top managerial candidates, despite him being employed by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners hierarchy are in search of a new manager following the sacking of Unai Emery, and have a number of individuals in mind.

Mikel Arteta, Mauricio Pochettino and Massimiliano Allegri have been most strongly linked with the role in recent weeks, which Freddie Ljungberg is temporarily occupying.

But Tuchel has emerged as a possibility, according to France Football via Sport Witness, who are reporting that the Gunners are attracted to the German for three reasons.

The first of these is that Tuchel speaks a number of languages and has a fluent grasp of English - something that saw Emery struggle during his time in charge.

Secondly, the Gunners board are reportedly impressed with the German's modern approach to the game, which saw him get the PSG job in the first place.

And finally, the Arsenal board like that Tuchel's teams play creative football - something the Gunners, who at the time of writing are 11th in the Premier League - have lacked all season.

Tuchel is under pressure to succeed with PSG in the Champions League this season, after last season's poor showing, in which they were knocked out by Manchester United in the last-16.

There are also claims the German has lost the dressing room, following his recent run-in with France World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.

Tuchel hooked the forward in the dying embers of the win over Montpellier, and Mbappe reacted by ignoring his boss and refusing to speak to him when leaving the pitch.

Tuchel failed to address the incident after the game.

He said: "It was really tough. Playing on that pitch in that atmosphere against that team isn't easy. We stayed calm and gave the right answer. We showed a good attitude and quality.

"The whole team did what was needed, they gave the right response. It's a good win, satisfying and deserved."
