Arsenal hopes of £22.5m sale take a hit as AC Milan make major transfer decision

The chances of Hector Bellerin leaving Arsenal appear to be dwindling this summer with just under two weeks left of the current transfer window.

He has looked on the verge of exiting the Emirates Stadium for some time with a number of European clubs having reportedly expressed an interest in his services.

Meanwhile, the defender's agent has been in London recently to hold talks with the Gunners regarding his immediate and long-term future.

One of the early interested parties was AC Milan, although the Serie A giants now appear unlikely to pursue a move having edged close to the signing of Paris Saint-Germain right-back Alessandro Florenzi.

According to Sky Italia, the Rossoneri are set to sign the Italian on-loan with an option to buy after a deal for Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot broke down recently.

Meanwhile, fellow Italians Inter Milan were also thought to be admirers but they too have looked elsewhere having signed Denzel Dumfries from Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven after they agreed to sell Achraf Hakimi to PSG.

This then leaves Bellerin in a tricky situation as he attempts to navigate a route out of the Emirates Stadium.

As it stands, Arsenal are struggling to shift 26-year-old Spaniard, with it being made clear that his future lies elsewhere.

As per transfermarkt, he is valued at £22.5million but it appears that Arsenal are unlikely to receive that amount for his signature as the 2021 summer transfer window edges into its final fortnight.

That then could mean a blow to Arsenal's chances of bringing in any more recruits without the considerable fee that they would otherwise have secured, whether that be from AC Milan or elsewhere.

football.london understands that the Gunners are still keen on bringing in a creative midfielder, as well as a goalkeeper with Bernd Leno’s future remaining uncertain.

Bellerin still has two years left to run on his current Arsenal contract and was named as an unused substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Brentford at the weekend.
