Arsenal 'hold Youri Tielemans transfer discussions' as €75m mega-deal plans outlined

Arsenal have work to do in the January transfer market, having found themselves under the microscope again following a premature FA Cup exit at the hands of Nottingham Forest.

Mikel Arteta's side now face a crucial few days, with the first-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool this evening followed by a tie against north London rivals Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend.

It doesn't seem likely that new faces will be drafted in before those fixtures but there's clearly work to be done and Arsenal are pushing ahead to land additions.

One area of focus is in central midfield, where there is a significant lack of depth, and Goal states that one player of interest is Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian has 18 months remaining on his contract at the King Power Stadium and Arsenal are said to have held discussions with the 24-year-old's representatives.

However, Leicester are unlikely to sanction an exit this month and any deal for Tielemans would likely have to wait until the end of the season.

Elsewhere, the talk about Juventus' Arthur Melo is heating up with Sport Witness stating two Italian outlets have the same update on the Brazilian.

Arsenal's push for the former Barcelona man is well documented but the stance in Italy is that Juventus are not interested in a loan and want to sell outright.

Finally, Dusan Vlahovic continues to be the main man for Arsenal and the Independent has documented how the Gunners plan to pay his lucrative €75m (£62m) price-tag.

Arsenal plan to spread out the cost of the transfer but it's stated Fiorentina want the majority of the fee up front, which could rule out a move this month.
