Arsenal have been hit with a Football Association (FA) charge in the wake of Saturday’s defeat by Manchester City.

The Gunners have been accused of failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 59th minute of the 2-1 defeat at Emirates Stadium.

The incident relates to the sending off of defender Gabriel, who was shown a second yellow card minutes after receiving his first.

The Brazilian was booked for dissent after City were awarded a penalty and he was shown a second yellow card for bringing down striker Gabriel Jesus around the halfway line.

Arsenal players protested Gabriel’s dismissal and have until this Friday to respond to the FA charge.

In a statement this morning, the FA said: “Arsenal FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following its Premier League game against Manchester City FC on Saturday.

“It is alleged that Arsenal FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 59th minute and the club has until Friday to respond.”
