Arsenal hero makes big claim about Wilfried Zaha transfer ahead of January window

Arsenal legend David Seaman says it is "obvious" that Wilfried Zaha wants to leave Crystal Palace to join the Gunners.

Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for the 28-year-old in the summer of 2019 before finally settling on a £72million transfer for Zaha's international teammate Nicolas Pepe from Lille.

Roy Hodgson has insisted that Palace would not stand in Zaha's way should a team come in and meet the asking price for the attacker, but as of yet that has not happened.

Zaha signed a new five-year contract at Selhurst Park back in 2018, meaning Palace are under no pressure to move on their prized asset, who has so far contributed five goals in eight Premier League appearances.

Seaman says he has no doubts about the quality Zaha possesses, and that he would fit into the Gunners squad well.

"I think Zaha would be a good addition to Arsenal because he’s a proven goal-scorer," Seaman told the Target Men podcast.

"I don’t know the reason why it hasn’t happened as he obviously wants to come.

"Whether it’s the agents and clubs not agreeing certain things, that must be the reason, but he’s made it clear that he wants to come as he’s an Arsenal fan.

"He would be a good addition to the squad, no doubt at all."

Zaha has missed the last two Palace games due to COVID-19 protocols, but is expected to be back in the starting line up for the trip to face West Brom on Sunday afternoon.

Hodgson's team looked blunt in attack without Zaha in their losses against Burnley and Newcastle, which has only helped to underline his importance to the team.
