Arsenal have key ingredient Mikel Arteta and Edu must use to beat Newcastle United to the top
Newcastle have shocked the Premier League by announcing that Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) have taken ownership of the club from Mike Ashley.
This means that the Magpies are set for a major cash injection with the owners promising the fans that the club will win it’s first Premier League title under their leadership.
This has sparked worry for rival fans especially Arsenal who are currently struggling to compete with the top teams without the threat of a wealthy Newcastle United.
Bailey Keogh, The Arsenal Way writer and presenter, Tom Canton, The Arsenal Way writer and presenter, and Chris Davison, content discussed how the Newcastle takeover will impact Arsenal, live on The Arsenal Way show on YouTube.
Despite the major cash injection, Keogh insisted that Arsenal shouldn’t be too disheartened by the threat of Newcastle due to the tools the Gunners already have.
“We have our own model, we have youngsters constantly coming through the Hale End academy and we have our own transfer market approach where we sign young players and build them up so we do not need to be competing with Newcastle in the transfer market.”
Davison expressed his worry that the takeover at Newcastle could delay Arsenal’s current transition phase.
“The transitions takes time and now it could become even longer because Newcastle now have this financial power behind them and they could move ahead of us now meaning that Arsenal could fall behind and that is my biggest concern.”
Canton believes Arsenal fans shouldn’t lose their head as clubs have had cash injections before and have failed to succeed.
“There is no promises, money has to be spent in the right way and done well to succeed, there has been plenty of clubs around Europe not just in the UK who have spent millions and failed. Anzhi (Makhachkala) spent heavy and went nowhere!”
