Arsenal have improved on a key characteristic and displayed it in Sheffield United FA Cup win

It appeared that Arsenal would be heading to extra time in their FA Cup quarter-final tie against Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon as David McGoldrick fired in a late equaliser.

However, there was a twist in the tale in stoppage time as second-half substitute Dani Ceballos won it for the Gunners with a low strike.

Mikel Arteta's team are now one game from a Wembley final but they have it all to do as they play Man City in a mouthwatering semi-final tie.

The Spaniard made a total of five changes for the game at Bramall Lane, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles one of those as he was given a rare opportunity in the starting XI.

Speaking about the late win after the game, the versatile player pinpointed the key characteristic the team have improved on recently.

"It's an amazing feeling," he said. "Every club wants to go to Wembley and play.

"For us to do it here today, away, and we haven't had the best of results away recently... it's good to pick up that win.

"A lot's been said about the character of this group but I think you really saw today at 1-1, to come back and rally and get that late goal to push on and get that win against a Sheffield United team who's done well this season. It does show what we're about.

"We've been building a lot of character. The tough times we're in show we've got the character to come back and keep fighting, trying to do as well as we can in the league and in the domestic cups, as much as we can.

"I think today was just the icing on the cake in showing people we can really do it."

The 22-year-old also had a message for the club's supporters after they missed out on the late win in South Yorkshire due to the current restrictions in place.

"Just keep supporting us, stick with us," he added. "We're a team in progress, just like a lot of other teams, and we're trying to win as many games as we can to please the fans."
