Arsenal have done Nottingham Forest this big favour ahead of Carabao Cup clash

Arsenal appear to have done Nottingham Forest a huge favour ahead of tonight’s clash in Carabao Cup.

The Reds travel to the Emirates Stadium to take on the Gunners in the third round of the competition this evening (7.45pm).

Sabri Lamouchi’s side saw off arch rivals Derby County in the previous round, demolishing their East Midland counterparts 3-0 at the City Ground last month.

For Arsenal, this is their first match in the competition this season, with Premier League clubs involved in European competitions not featuring until the third round.

The Gunners go into tonight’s match on the back of a 3-2 win over Aston Villa in north London, with Unai Emery’s outfit twice coming from behind to claim all three points on Sunday.

And it is understood that Arsenal have done Forest a big favour going into tonight’s match, by agreeing to play the tie tonight rather than on Wednesday.

This is because Forest asked the Gunners to play the tie this evening (Tuesday) as they have a Sky Bet Championship clash against Stoke City on Friday night.

Arsenal were only in action two days ago, and all the other clubs who played on Sunday are playing their Carabao Cup ties on Wednesday to give themselves an extra break.

But now Forest will have had an extra day to prepare for tonight’s match at the Emirates, and both clubs will be keen to make a statement in this competition.
