Arsenal are keen to be active in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have already added one new face to the squad ahead of the new Premier League season. Willian joined on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract at Chelsea.
Arsenal are also close to sealing a transfer for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes after agreeing a £25 million fee with the French team.
But Arteta will be keen to see more new faces arrive at the club in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
One of the top targets ahead of the new season is Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
Arsenal are said to have made an approach to the Spanish side for Partey, but have come up against a firm stance from Atletico.
The club are insistent that they will only sell the midfielder should the £45 million release clause in his contract be met.
The club are also keen to tie the player down to a new deal that will raise that fee further.
Latest reports from Sport (via Sport Witness ) claim that Arsenal have now given up on the pursuit of the midfielder, having ‘withdrawn’ their interest.
However, Atletico’s latest transfer activity could get Arsenal to reignite their interest in the midfielder.
According to AS , Atletico are negotiating a deal with Espanyol for defensive midfielder Mar Roca, for a deal worth €15 million. Atletico are said to be looking to want to conclude a deal quickly.
The Espanyol man has also been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as a potential replacement for Granit Xhaka.
However, should Atletico conclude a deal, it may give the Gunners the chance to make another move for Partey this summer.
