Ramsey, Monreal and Xhaka - Latest Arsenal injury news and expected return dates

Arsenal and Unai Emery have been handed a double injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash against Newcastle United tomorrow night.

Both Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal are available for the game at the Emirates Stadium, despite recent injury scares.

The former was forced to return to London Colney from Wales during the international break due to a thigh injury, but it has since been confirmed that he is back in full training.

And he has been joined by Nacho Monreal, who had sat out the recent warm-weather training camp in Dubai because of a calf problem.

But have been passed fit to feature against Newcastle, however, with Ramsey's return particularly important given Lucas Torreira will miss the game through suspension.

There was no mention in Arsenal's injury update of Granit Xhaka, who was substituted during Switzerland's game with Denmark on Wednesday night after complaining of a thigh injury.

Xhaka stated in a social media post on Thursday that he was set to begin treatment later that evening to try and return to full fitness as soon as possible.

He said: "Back in London but still unhappy that we didn’t secure the three points in the EURO qualifiers against Denmark.

"It is always painful not to be able to go the full distance but I pushed myself as hard as I could until I had to ask for my substitution in the 79th minute.

"After not being able to finish the match fighting with my teammates, I will have the first treatment tonight [Thursday] to make sure to recover quickly."

However, Emery does expect the midfielder to be ready to face the Magpies.

"Xhaka also rested today, we're going to wait [until] tomorrow and Sunday but the first previews from the doctor is that he can progress to be ready for Monday," the Spaniard told reporters.
