Arsenal have been given a boost in their attempts to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer in the January transfer window.
The Austria international is out of contract with the Bundesliga outfit at the end of next season and has been linked with a move to north London - with Tottenham also reportedly interested in signing him.
Arsenal 's interest in Sabitzer was first reported by Julien Laurens - a French football journalist who is an ESPN contributor - and he believes the 26-year-old is tailor-made for the Premier League.
"There is another club [interested in him] - I think Arsenal are very keen as well. I think there’s a few English clubs [interested in him]. He will be perfect for the Premier League," he said on his podcast.
"The way he plays, 26-years-old, it’s a good age, all that energy. I think he’s ready [to play in the Premier League]. "He would be a great signing, potentially quite cheap as well for the kind of player that you’re getting.
"It's a no-brainer."
This rumour certainly prompted a massive response from some Arsenal fans who have urged technical director Edu to hijack the transfer from under the noses of Spurs.
But is there a chance of Sabitzer leaving RB Leipzig this month?
Well, the club's CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has revealed in an interview that there's one condition that could see Sabitzer as well as Dayot Upamecano, Christopher Nkunku or Ibrahima Konate sold.
"What I can rule out after the Szoboszlai transfer is that we will get more players this winter or summer without us giving up any," said Mintzlaff, as per SportBuzzer.
"If it makes financial sense and we can absorb it sportily.
"When I think of Werner, Cunha, Keita or Demme, we have already redeemed a lot and still developed further in terms of sport."
Interestingly, the Gunners have been linked with the aforementioned quartet currently still at RB Leipzig.
Links to Upamecano stretch all the way back to the 2019 summer transfer window, while Nkunku was a target for former head coach Unai Emery two years ago and Konate continues to be tipped for a move to the Emirates.
But Mintzlaff's comments about Sabitzer could alert Edu as well as Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta as signing an attacking midfielder is the club's main priority this month.
