Arsenal handed major injury concern as Alexandre Lacazette spotted wearing a protective boot

Arsenal are sweating on an injury to Alexandre Lacazette.

The new Premier League season is less than two weeks away, but Unai Emery has a major injury concern on his hands.

That is after frontman Lacazette went down injured during the Emirates Cup defeat to Lyon on Sunday.

The Frenchman was one of the Gunners' star performers last season, striking up a great partnership up front with Pierre-Emerick Aubamyang.

Lacazette scored 19 goals and laid on a further 13 assists in all competitions last season, but ahead of the start of the new season he has suffered an as yet unknown injury.

The 28-year-old went down during the first half of the pre-season contest at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, having not been involved in a challenge.

It looked as if he was dropping down to sort some strapping around his left foot, but he required physio's attention, and was soon limping from the field.

It was an innocuous-looking injury, but photos emerging during the second half will concern head coach Unai Emery and the Gunners' fans.

Lacazette returned to the Arsenal bench for the second half wearing a protective boot on his left foot, which will leave Emery sweating on his fitness ahead of the opening game of the Premier League season against Newcastle on Sunday, August 10.
