Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber has handed Arsenal a huge boost in the hunt to sign Emiliano Buendia, opening the door for the Argentine to leave the club.
The Gunners were chasing a move for the Championship midfielder during the January transfer window but had the door shut to a proposed transfer, with Norwich standing firm.
However, he remains a target for Mikel Arteta's side and, as reported by Football.London last month , the 24-year-old's representatives have a close relationship with Arsenal.
It was then stated that Buendia's agents would hold talks with the Gunners regarding a proposed transfer ahead of the end of the season.
That makes it pretty clear that a transfer is possible but Arsenal would still need to agree a deal with Norwich - but they've been handed a boost in that regard.
Webber, speaking about Norwich trio Buendia, Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell, opened the door for sales if their valuations were met.
“We have our valuation and if people don’t want to pay that, they don’t get them. We don’t see it as us being unreasonable, we do know what our players are worth, what we’ve done for them, and what we want to be compensated for if they were to go," he told the Athletic.
“It’s inevitable that interest will come for those three because they’re terrific players and very experienced now for their age.
“When their journey here ends, we’ll make sure they get to a good place. Most importantly, their legacy has to be leaving Norwich in the best place it can be.”
