Arsenal handed major boost in Aurelien Tchouameni transfer race as Real Madrid make key decision

Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in the race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni this summer as Real Madrid are claimed to be open to offers for the midfielder. Interest from the Gunners comes as they look to rebuild their midfield ranks ahead of the new Premier League season.

Granit Xhaka's exit to Bayer Leverkusen has already been confirmed, while football.london understands that Thomas Partey could leave if the right offer is received. In terms of incomings, Kai Havertz has joined in a £65million deal from Chelsea, with Mikel Arteta hinting at a central role for the Germany international.

Declan Rice looks as though he's close to joining him in making the switch across London, with a £105million deal agreed with West Ham. Reports claim that the Hammers captain is currently undergoing his medical, with the transfer set to seal a new club-record move.

With an emphasis on quality, depth and players that are yet to reach their prime, the huge spending shows the ambition set by the Gunners after coming so close to the Premier League title last season. There's still other options being assessed though, with the potential for more spending on the cards.

One of those could be a deeper midfielder as promising Southampton star Romeo Lavia has been touted with a switch but with a huge £50million valuation. Another mentioned has been Tchouameni, who was a regular within the Real Madrid team last season but has been touted as an option to leave - despite Los Blancos investing £68million in the 23-year-old last summer.

The France international could be an option for the north London outfit this summer as Marca reports that the youngster could be sold this summer to fund Real's potential move for Kylian Mbappe - who is a target and could be set to leave PSG this summer. Tchouameni is claimed to be available for between £68million and £85million, breaking even on the overall transfer.

It remains to be seen whether that's a distinct possibility that Arsenal will take up, however it could give them a chance at landing a huge talent that otherwise wouldn't be available.
