Arsenal handed huge Premier League title boost vs Man City before the 2022 World Cup

So far, Arsenal are enjoying a stellar season, with Mikel Arteta's side sitting top of the Premier League and their Europa League group.

The Gunners have shown they are capable of challenging for the Premier League title this season after picking up impressive wins against Liverpool and Tottenham earlier this month. Arsenal have only lost one game in all competitions, coming against Manchester United at Old Trafford, as they look to continue their brilliant form through a busy period of fixtures leading up to the 2022 World Cup.

The north London outfit were set to play Manchester City later this month, but the game has been postponed due to Mikel Arteta's side having to play their rearranged Europa League clash against PSV Eindhoven. The postponement was a result of Queen Elizabeth II's passing in September, resulting in the game against PSV needing to be rescheduled due to policing shortages.

Arsenal are facing a busy fixture schedule ahead of the 2022 World Cup, but it is arguably one of the most favourable run of games out of any Premier League team. With the clash against Man City now postponed until a later date, the Gunners' most difficult test looks set to come against London rivals Chelsea, who are still unbeaten under new manager Graham Potter.

Tricky tests against Leeds United, Southampton and Wolves lie ahead, along with a game against Nottingham Forest, who are seen as the easiest game in the run-up to the World Cup in Qatar, with Steve Cooper's side currently sat in 19th. Arsenal's current form puts them in a strong position against lower-placed teams, and the players will head into each game full of confidence with the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Arsenal's run of fixtures sees them face opponents with an average league position of 14.4, with Crystal Palace being the only team seen as having an easier run of fixtures. City take on Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium this weekend, and despite the Reds' poor form this season, it will still be a difficult game for Pep Guardiola's side in which they could easily drop points and allow Arsenal to move further ahead.

Arsenal's next five Premier League fixtures:

Leeds United (A) - October 16

Southampton (A) - October 23

Nottingham Forest (H) - October 30

Chelsea (A) - November 6

Wolves (A) - November 12
