Arsenal will have to travel less distance than London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League group stage, it has been confirmed.
Just 13 out of the 48 teams left in the competition have less to travel than Mikel Arteta’s side in their three away matches in the group, as calculated by Reddit user Bear Cadet.
The Gunners were drawn into Group B - alongside Rapid Wien of Austria, Molde of Norway and Dundalk of Ireland.
Arsenal’s furthest trip will be a 2,245.5km travel to Molde, with their shortest distance to fly just 677km.
Spurs actually have the second closest trip (316km) out of any team left in the competition when they travel to Belgium to face Antwerp.
Despite this, Jose Mourinho’s men will still total up more miles than Arteta’s side over the course of their three away group games.
The team that will have to trek the most distance is Villarreal - of course managed by former Arsenal boss Unai Emery.
The Spanish side usually travel around 22,000km per season in La Liga, but quite staggeringly, they will travel over half of that in their three away matches.
Emery’s side have two out of the three furthest trips out of any team, with a 4,398km travel to Qarabag of Azerbaijan and then 3,358km to Israel to face Maccabi Tel Aviv.
In fact, Arsenal travel less in total than the La Liga club do for their shortest trip of the group stage.
German side Hoffenheim will be doing the least traveling, with Villarreal set to go 5x further in distance than the Bundesliga outfit.
