Arsenal handed Europa League boost by UEFA ahead of Napoli clash

UEFA are set to support Arsenal's attempt to obtain a visa for Henrikh Mkhitaryan if they reach the Europa League final.

This year's competition will come to a conclusion in Azerbaijan's capital city Baku on May 28, with Arsenal in a great position to reach the last four.

The Gunners lead Napoli 2-0 ahead of the second leg in Italy and will fancy their chances of holding onto their aggregate lead.

Should they go through, Arsenal will face Valencia, who beat Villarreal 3-1 away from home last week.

Armenian star Mkhitaryan is currently prohibited from playing in Azerbaijan due to ongoing conflict.

Gary Neville has his say on Troy Deeney's red card against Arsenal

Unai Emery decided not to include Mkhitaryan in his squad for the group stage match with Qarabag earlier this season.

But he could yet be part of the squad for the final if Arsenal make it.

ESPN FC reports UEFA are confident Mkhitaryan would be granted an Azerbaijan visa, due to an exemption for sporting participants.

Mkhitaryan played the full 90 minutes on Monday night as Arsenal boosted their top four chances with a 1-0 win at Watford .

What Unai Emery said to Troy Deeney after his red card against Arsenal

The win took Arsenal back into fourth, level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea , although they have a game in hand on Maurizio Sarri's men.

Boss Unai Emery said: "We were competitive but in the circumstances we can control the match better.

"We didn't make it easy to score the second goal. We did not control the ball in the attacking third.

"A clean sheet is very important. It is going to give us a lot of information, this match. Our analysis will give us confidence."
