Arsenal handed Dominic Szoboszlai transfer boost after fresh admission

Dominic Szoboszlai's agent has denied suggestions the midfielder is poised to join RB Leipzig.

The Red Bull Salzburg star has been hugely impressive for the Austrian outfit and was able to broadcast his talents in the Champions League last term.

He scored 12 times in 40 outings and was named as the Austrian Bundesliga's Player of the Season.

Several players have moved between the two Red Bull-owned teams making a move seem like a when, rather than an if.

Arsenal have an interest in Szoboszlai with Mikel Arteta keen on a forward thinking midfielder.

And they have been given fresh hope that they could sign the 20-year-old after his agent Matyas Esterhaz rebuffed claims of a move to Leipzig.

"Dominik Szoboszlai has no agreement with Leipzig or any other club, except of course his current club Red Bull Salzburg," he told Hungarian outlet Index.

Bild had claimed earlier this week that an agreement had been struck between the two clubs.

The likes of Naby Keita and Dayot Upamecano have moved from Salzburg to Leipzig, but there is no guarantee that Szoboszlai will follow suit.

Szoboszlai is reportedly available for around £18m and is a far cheaper alternative to Leipzig's Christoper Nkunku who had been previously linked with a switch to north London.

The Bundesliga outfit were demanding around £35m for the Frenchman.

Arsenal managed to sign Thomas Partey on deadline day and the Ghanaian has already made a huge impression at the Emirates.

But four defeats in their opening eight games of the season highlight the work still needing to be done by Arteta.
