Arsenal handed David Luiz fitness boost ahead of Molde clash with centre-back injury problems easing

Arsenal have received a boost with defender David Luiz back in full training and available to play against Molde in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Luiz injured his thigh during a match against Leicester City last month and has not played since.

It had initially been feared that the Brazilian may not return until after this month’s international break, but he is now back in full training.

That is a boost for Arsenal ahead of their Europa League match against Norwegian side Molde at Emirates Stadium as they had been short on centre-backs.

However, Rob Holding returned at the weekend to play against Manchester United and Luiz’s comeback has now eased fears of a mounting centre-back crisis.

The 33-year-old has impressed this term, forming a good understanding with summer signing and fellow Brazilian Gabriel Magalhaes, and his performances have helped Arsenal have the best defence in the Premier League in 2020/21.
