Arsenal handed £17m Houssem Aouar transfer boost as Lautaro Martinez meeting is confirmed

Here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Aouar boost

In a potential boost for Arsenal, reports in France claim that Lyon Sporting Director Juninho intends to react radically following the 3-0 defeat to Angers last weekend.

The report states that the Ligue 1 outfit are now willing to sell Aouar as well as Maxwel Cornet, Thiago Mendes, Rayan Cherki and Islam Slimani for 'their poor attitude'.

Aouar was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium before the 2020/21 season got underway, but the Gunners were eventually priced out of a deal as Lyon were demanding £53million.

But recently, according to The Sun, the asking price is even lower with Lyon willing to accept as little as €20million (£17million) this summer.

It remains to be seen if the Gunners will still be interested in Aouar once the Odegaard deal is confirmed, but they may never get a better chance to sign the 23-year-old.

Arsenal's triple appointment

Arsenal have bolstered their scouting department over the summer.

Perhaps the standout appointment is that of Toni Lima, a former Andorran international who has previously worked at the likes of Manchester United, Inter and the Brazil Football Federation

Lima officially started his role in July which will focus on the Spanish market, and will report to Arsenal technical director Edu whom he knows from his time in Brazil.

In addition to his football career, Lima has studied law and speaks six languages: Spanish, Catalan, English, Portuguese, Italian and French.

football.london can also reveal that Romain Poirot has been appointed as first-team scout with a particular focus on the French football market.

In addition, James Ellis was added to the department earlier in the summer after joining from Fulham.

Martinez meeting confirmed

Lautaro Martinez's future at Inter Milan should become even clearer in the coming days.

As well as Arsenal, their north London rivals Tottenham have a definite interest in the striker and even agreed a fee, believed to be in excess of €60million (£51.1million), for the Argentina international with Inter.

However, any deal was complicated due to Inter's recent sale of Romelu Lukaku and it would appear that the 23-year-old is staying put following a meeting about a contract renewal on Wednesday.

With Martinez's agent Alejandro Camano insisting that his client wants to stay at the San Siro, as he believes in the project, news of the meeting can only be bad news for the Gunners.

"Lautaro wants to stay at Inter, he trusts the project and wants to win,” Camano told FC Inter News.

"I’ll meet with the Inter board on Wednesday to talk about his contract situation. Premier League clubs wanted him but he’s ready to stay."
