Arsenal great slams valuation of Manchester United transfer target

Manchester United have been told it would be "absolute madness" for them to meet Crystal Palace's reported £65million valuation of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

United made an opening offer of £40million for the 21-year-old right-back last week but that was rejected as it didn't come close to meeting Palace's asking price for him.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday morning, Parlour vented his frustration at the inflated valuations of young players in the current market.

"It is madness, absolute madness," Parlour said. "I really like him (Wan-Bissaka), I think he’s an excellent player and I’ve seen him on quite a few occasions.

"His defending is very good and he gets forward. But for £65m? It’s crazy.

"I mean, look at those Ajax youngsters. They’re only young and they’ve not really done anything yet.

"They’ve really shown that they can play in an Ajax shirt and have done really well in the Champions League but they’re going for £70m-£80m as well."

Meanwhile, Wan-Bissaka has reportedly told Palace he wants to join United.

It was claimed by The Sun on Wednesday that Wan-Bissaka sees a move to United as a 'dream transfer'.

The report says the youngster has not submitted a formal transfer request, but was frustrated to see United’s initial bid for his services turned down.

United have reportedly identified the Norwich full-back Max Aarons as an alternative target should they fail in their bid to sign Wan-Bissaka.
