Arsenal great questions why Premier League trophy already at Liverpool FC as Man City win

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been left bemused by the appearance of the Premier League trophy at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City handed the baton of pressure back into the hands of Jurgen Klopp's side after defeating Crystal Palace 3-1 at Selhurst Park, overcoming an opponent who has previously given them difficulties.

There were no such issues this time around though as Raheem Sterling struck twice and Gabriel Jesus scored in injury time to put City back at the top of the Premier League, ahead of Liverpool's hosting of Chelsea.

Despite the fight for the Premier League title being far from over, and looking set to go right to the wire, Sky Sports brought the trophy to Anfield on Sunday - and Wright was left scratching his head.

"So Sky have got the Premier League trophy at Anfield! Why, do they win the league if they beat Chelsea," he posted onto Twitter.

The decision left many others on social media also confused and City fans will be hoping it is the only appearance the trophy makes at Liverpool' s ground this season, as they look to engrave their name into the illustrious prize for the second year in a row.
