Arsenal great makes Paul Pogba Manchester United transfer prediction

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would sell Paul Pogba in the next month if an offer came in.

The Manchester United midfielder hasn't started a game for the club since September 30th and, despite coming on as a substitute in recent games against Watford and Newcastle, is out injured again.

Pogba played no part in United's away games at Burnley and Arsenal in the past week, with Solskjaer opened up about the injury after the 2-0 defeat at the Emirates. He said: "It's something that has to be sorted and dealt with within a timeframe and he's been advised to do it as soon as [possible] and he'll probably do it as soon as. So he'll be out for three or four weeks probably."

Merson, however, believes there is a disconnect between the club and the player and predicted that Solskjaer would sell Pogba if a bid is forthcoming.

United batted away interest in the Frenchman in the summer, publicly declaring that Pogba wasn't for sale amid interest from Real Madrid. But Merson clearly believes the situation has changed.

“I do not think Solskjaer trusts Pogba in the game and at the end of the day," said the Sky Sports pundit.

"If United could sell him at any time this month, then they would get rid of him.

“But at the same time, United do not want an injured Pogba in the next month as otherwise he is not going anywhere."

United may well bolster their midfield ranks now that the January transfer window is open. Scott McTominay is another who is out injured at the moment for Solskjaer's side and Nemanja Matic has been linked with a move to Serie A.
