Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes that Chelsea fans should not feel too down about the 2019/20 season even if it has showed signs of unravelling of late.
Chelsea have beaten Manchester City and Leicester City since the restart but have also lost two of their last three games against West Ham United and Sheffield United.
The Blues are now one point clear of Leicester City, who face Bournemouth on Sunday evening, and two points ahead of Manchester United, who are fifth.
It's a precarious position for the club heading into their final three league games against Manchester United, Liverpool and Wolves but Wright has offered up some perspective on where Chelsea stand ahead of those crucial encounters.
"I think they still have to look at it positively. What happened to him at the start of the season with the embargo and the kids he’s had to use, they’ve stayed in the top four," Wright explained on the BBC's Match of the Day.
"Their best player left in Eden Hazard. There’s still a lot to look forward to, he’s just got to get their attitudes right.
“I think you could see it in Frank (Lampard), he knows that he got it wrong today, he changed it at half-time. That’s the way it was today, they lacked the same intensity that Sheffield United had and Sheffield United ran away with it. (Antonio) Rudiger came on and wasn’t quite with the pace of the game.”
The loss at Bramall Lane was Chelsea's eleventh of the season and they have now conceded a remarkable 49 goals during the campaign.
Former Liverpool man Danny Murphy added his thoughts on the defeat and explained that Lampard was not astute enough tactically.
He told the BBC: “Frank was brutally honest. Tactically, Chelsea were poor and Sheffield United were very good.
"It was the tenacity and energy of Sheffield United that created the dominance in the first half and that was personified by the front two."
