Arsenal great Ian Wright makes Chelsea FA Cup claim amid Liverpool clash

Arsenal great Ian Wright has explained what he believes would be a 'fantastic season' for Chelsea.

The Blues have had plenty of highs and lows this season but are still on course for a fruitful campaign under Frank Lampard.

A transfer ban last summer and a quiet January window have not stopped Chelsea sitting fourth in the Premier League despite a rough run of late.

Ahead of Chelsea's clash at home to Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup, Wright insisted that the Blues could still enjoy a successful season.

Even with a potential Champions League exit on the horizon this month following a last 16 first-leg tie 3-0 defeat at home to Bayern Munich, Wright still believes Lampard's men can enjoy some good times before the end of the season.

"If they can go through to the latter stages of the FA Cup and finish fourth in the Premier League, it can still be a fantastic season for them," Wright told the BBC.

"I know that he (Frank Lampard) is under a lot of pressure to do that. He has not been settled on his formation and his team but there is a lot left in the season for them still."

Chelsea led 1-0 at the break in the aforementioned FA Cup clash with Liverpool this evening thanks to a fired shot from Willian which found the back of the net after a mistake from Adrian.
