Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez posts video preparing for the new season

Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is already preparing for the new season.

Whilst most Premier League stars are either playing in international tournaments or sunning themselves on a beach, Martinez has posted a video of himself on Twitter being put through his paces in a one-to-one goalkeeping session.

The 26-year-old has been with the north London club since 2012, and made his Premier League debut as a second half substitute, replacing the injured Wojciech Szczesny, against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium two years later.

But since then, the Argentine has struggled to nail down a place at the club and spent last season on loan at Championship side Reading, where he made 18 appearances.

And admitted in April of this year that may have to move away from the Gunners in order to secure regular first-team football.

He told Goal : “Obviously I love Arsenal. But it’s time for me to make it there or go somewhere else. I promised my dad I was going to make it and I will make it.

“My dream is to play for Arsenal, I’ve always said that and I believe I have everything that a keeper needs to play for Arsenal. When I signed my last contract for six years it was because I believed I had everything to be No.1. Why would I sign for six years if I wasn’t going to have any games?

“If they don’t trust me, then I will have to move away and the Arsenal fans will understand. But I believe I should have the chance to show how good I am at Arsenal. I want to stay in England. My wife and my kid were born here and I want to stay at Arsenal - that’s the truth, so I hope they give me the chance.”

But Martinez's latest social media post perhaps proves he is ready to return and fight for his place at the Emirates this summer.
