Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno wanted by Fulham ahead of Cottagers’ return to Premier League

Fulham are interested in a deal for Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno as they prepare for life in the Premier League.

Cottagers boss Marco Silva wants to sign a new goalkeeper this summer and Leno has emerged as leading contender to come in.

The club had looked at Alphonse Areola of Paris Saint-Germain, who spent a year on loan with Fulham during the 2020-21 season, but West Ham are the frontrunners to sign the Frenchman.

Areola spent last season on loan at the Hammers and boss David Moyes is keen to keep hold of him.

Arsenal are open to selling Leno this summer, who has just one year left on his contract at Emirates Stadium.

The German held talks with Arsenal technical director Edu before the end of the season and it was agreed he could go, with the Gunners have already lined up USA goalkeeper Matt Turner to arrive.

Turner is joining Arsenal from MLS side New England Revolution for an initial fee of around £5.5million and he will arrive in England later this month.

The 27-year-old will provide competition for Arsenal No1 Aaron Ramsdale, with Estonian youngster Karl Hein expected to be the club’s No3.
