Arsenal could see a rebirth of Robin van Persie amongst their ranks, as the club are reportedly interested in signing Mason Greenwood from Manchester United.
According to Catalan outlet El Nacional, the youngster is unsettled at Manchester United due to Ralf Rangnick’s reluctance to utilise him regularly.
The Gunners are said to be one of the clubs courting him as Mikel Arteta looks to improve his attacking lineup and sort the striker issues that have started to emerge.
Greenwood has been compared to Van Persie in the past, and Dutchman himself has previously sung the praises of the player.
Speaking to Enterprise Rent-A-Car about Greenwood, the former Arsenal striker said: “When I watch him play, it just brings a big smile to my face.
He’s deadly with his finishing. The way he finishes is very unique. He’s 18 years old! As a young kid, I didn’t score many goals when I was 18 so Mason Greenwood is definitely doing better at 18 than me.”
Greenwood broke onto the scene in 2019 under Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer and has been a prominent member of the Manchester United squad since.
The youngster scored 34 goals in 34 under-18 games for Manchester United and the amount of goals he scored is matched for the first team.

His impressive club performances have already seen him achieve multiple call-ups for England’s senior international side.
Arsenal certainly need to strengthen their forward line, after it emerged that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had been stripped of the club's captaincy due to a breach of disciplinary rules, which has increased the likelihood of the striker being sold.
Edu could potentially use the option to involve the 32-year-old in a swap deal, therefore deflating the price for the signature of Greenwood.
But Arsenal’s striker situation gets even more daunting when you consider Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette’s contracts are set to expire in the summer, and it seems like a certainty that both strikers will be departing.
This would leave Arsenal extremely short in the attacking positions, but Greenwood would be a perfect solution to the potential problem.
Whilst this transfer certainly seems unlikely, it is definitely a deal that Arteta and Edu should look to consider.
