Arsenal given hands-off warning over pursuit of summer transfer target

Bournemouth have warned Arsenal off making a move for Ryan Fraser this summer.

Mirror Sport reported the Scotland international had emerged as a transfer target for Unai Emery as he looks to add reinforcements in the wide areas.

Fraser, 25, admitted he was flattered to be linked with a "massive club" like Arsenal although Bournemouth are hopeful he will sign a new deal.

"We will talk to Ryan. It is very early days yet and we will do the best for Ryan as we always have for all of our players," chairman Jeff Mostyn said.

"At the end of the day, contracts are what [they are]. People sign long-term contracts and will still leave but as far as I am concerned, I follow Eddie Howe’s mantra – we never talk about transfers and I just follow my manager’s example."

His Cherries' teammate Callum Wilson has also been linked with a move away from the south coast this summer but Mostyn is adamant neither are going nowhere.

"Ryan Fraser is a Bournemouth player. Callum Wilson is a Bournemouth player," he said.

"We just don’t want anybody to leave the football club. Your prized assets are prized assets for a reason and we want to continue the momentum that we have achieved.

"Four consecutive seasons in the Premier League. We are going to start our next season, which will be our fifth year - we want our very best players to be playing for our football club."

Eddie Howe's men are in a disappointing run of form and have managed just one win from their last nine Premier League matches.

Saturday's 3-1 home defeat left them in 13th in the table and Howe admits they will need at least one more win to confirm their survival.
