The £94m transfer boost that is great news for Arsenal after Man United pull out of deal

Barcelona have been eyeing a move for a striker for some time now.

The La Liga giants have been linked with a host of names, including some of the world's top strikers.

And one that has continually cropped up is Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Spanish giants are looking for a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez, who recently turned 33 years old.

The striker has also suffered a serious knee injury that required surgery, and will keep him out of action for the rest of the season.

Aubameyang is currently in the middle of an impasse over his contract, with his current deal running until the end of the 2020/21 season.

With just over a year remaining on his deal, clubs will be hoping they can persuade Arsenal to part ways with the striker in the summer for somewhat of a bargain, rather than losing him on a free the following year.

But they've been given an unlikely boost by the transfer activity of Manchester United.

Another striker heavily linked with a move to Camp Nou is Inter attacker Lautaro Martinez.

The 22-year-old moved to San Siro in 2018 for £20million, and is now valued highly by Serie A side.

According to the Times, United have enquired about a possible deal for the Argentina international, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to bring in another striker in the summer.

United are short up front, with a deadline day loan deal sealed for Odion Ighalo from the Chinese Super League to cover for an injury to Marcus Rashford.

But the Premier League side will not be pursuing a move for Martinez in the summer, with Inter stating that they will not sell the striker for less than his £94million release clause.

That leaves the path clear for Barca to make a move for Martinez - and skip a move for Aubameyang, who will turn 31 this summer.
