Arsenal get update on potential cash injection to help fund Aouar and Partey transfers

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has said the ball is in Arsenal's court amid links to Folarin Balogun.

As reported by football.london, the Gunners are holding out for an eight-figure sum for the striker after swiftly rejecting a £3million bid from the Blades.

Furthermore, United are expected to return with a further offer before the window closes, but a bidding war with rival suitors such as Brentford would benefit the north London outfit.

This is because they are looking to raise funds to further strengthen Mikel Arteta's squad and have been linked with moves for Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Lyon's Houssem Aouar.

And speaking ahead of his side's clash against Leeds United, the Blades boss delivered an update on his search for a new striker with Liverpool's Rhian Brewster also a rumoured target.

"We need to add and the owner understands that," Wilder revealed, as per Yorkshire Live. "We all have this opinion during lockdown and second part of season that finances would not be heavily invested.

"That's gone through window, everyone is adding to their group and it’s important we do in a relative way with what we have to spend.

"I am uncomfortable talking about other players. We have enquired about a number of players and hopefully we will get one over the line.

"It’s an area from last year on reflection where we need to improve and get better quality in that group, especially with Lys not being available."

"I would say so," Wilder added when asked if the ball is with other clubs. "We have a decision as a football club above me.

"Always three main players in signing a player, the player does he want to come?

"The selling club do they want to let him go and at what price?

"And the buying club are they prepared to go to that price? These all have to happen.

"I have identified players and there are things that need to happen from an negotiation point of view above me."
