Arsenal off the mark

To say this result was long overdue was an understatement.

Arsenal’s win over Norwich was their first of the season, ending a run of three straight defeats to start the 2021/2022 Premier League campaign.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal proved to be the difference but it wasn’t the most convincing performance from Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arteta makes Ramsdale the starter

Arteta made a bold call prior to kick off, naming summer signing Aaron Ramsdale as the starting goalkeeper.

Bernd Leno was relegated to the substitutes bench and the decision paid off, with Arsenal keeping their first clean sheet in the league this season.

Areta was open and honest about why he selected the English goalkeeper to start between the sticks against Norwich.

Patino in line for senior call-up?

One player who could be working his way into the matchday squad is youngster Charlie Patino.

The 17-year-old was at his best in the under-23’s 3-1 victory over Manchester United, beating Dean Henderson with an exquisite chip to round off his performance.

With Arteta’s side set to take on AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup this week at the Emirates Stadium, Patino done himself no harm in staking his claim to make the subs bench at the very least.
