Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin feels he has rediscovered his best form after injury woe last year

Hector Bellerin believes he is rediscovering his best form and putting his injury nightmare behind him.

The Arsenal right-back, who was attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, suffered a serious knee injury in January 2019 and did not return until September of that year.

Bellerin had a series of niggles and muscular problems after that as he made his comeback.

The Spaniard believes he has now put that behind him, though, and has credited football’s lockdown earlier this year as it gave him the time to get himself fully fit and firing.

“I feel that coming back from my long-term injury was very difficult for me,” said Bellerin.

“I felt like once I was back, my knee felt okay but really my body in general wasn't in the same place as it was pre-injury and I felt during lockdown I had the chance to focus on myself and do the dirty work, as you'd say.

“I've come back from it way stronger, I kept working through the summer and now I feel like I'm back to how I felt two minutes before that injury.

“So yeah, for me it feels good. But the most important thing is that the team is playing better and better every day and that's what makes me happy.”

Arsenal are due back in action tomorrow night when they again travel to Liverpool for their fourth round Carabao Cup tie, with manager Mikel Arteta expected to make several changes to his team.
