Here is your Arsenal digest on Sunday, October 3.

Arsenal ‘ahead’ for Insigne

Planning already appears to have started for Arsenal’s 2022 summer transfer window with the news they are reportedly planning a move for Napoli frontman Lorenzo Insigne.

The Euro 2020 winner is out of contract at the end of the campaign and could leave the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on a free transfer.

According to Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Arsenal are among those interested and as per the reports are ‘ahead of the others’ should he elect to move on from his current employers.

Gabriel makes Manchester United admission

One man who arrived at the Emirates Stadium last summer was Gabriel Magalhaes. However, that might not have been the case had Manchester United had their way.

The Brazilian defender has claimed that the Red Devils were interested in his services but he was only ever set on a move to the Emirates Stadium when he left Lille.

He said: “It’s true that Manchester United were also interested, but I was always focused on joining Arsenal.”

Arteta impressed with defensive duo

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has admitted he was hugely impressed with the centre-back partnership of Ben White and Gabriel during the Gunners' 0-0 draw with Brighton on Saturday evening.

"Yeah [I'm impressed] because they've never played together and because they have struggled a little bit with the language and they didn't have any time to work together in pre-season either", he told the club's media.

"They're getting a really good connection, good chemistry, and I think their qualities match and complement each other really, really well. I think both of them today were terrific."
