Liverpool fans have once again been left scratching their heads as to how they failed to beat West Brom.
The Baggies put in a dismal performance on Saturday night to lose 4-0 to an Arsenal side that had previously been struggling for goals.
It was West Brom's third defeat from Sam Allardyce's four games in charge, with his sole point coming from a 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
That game represented the fewest goals the Baggies have conceded in a game under Allardyce and the only time they have scored with him in charge.
Yet their subsequent defeats to Leeds and Arsenal have left many Reds fans wondering just how their side failed to win.
Allardyce took a gleeful tone after taking a point at Anfield, arguing he had mastered the art of defensive football.
Yet the West Brom boss was a lot more downbeat after his side became the first Premier League team since 2014 to concede three or more goals in three consecutive home games.
"There's another game gone by where we've learned more and more about the players we have," he told BT Sport.
"I think we've learned an awful lot about what we can and cannot do.
"We need to work out a way of trying to make sure we don't be as sloppy as we are at conceding goals.
"That seems to be by defending deeper, as we did at Man City and Liverpool.
"It appears that, if we go and attack the opposition, when we do try and open up, we leave opportunities for the opposition and we're not able to cope."
He added: "We have to defend better, it's as simple as that.
"If that means we have to wait until the right opportunity to attack, as we did at Liverpool in the second half, then that's the way we're going to have to do it.
"Otherwise we've proven that, when we've opened up and try and play against Villa, Leeds and Arsenal, we don't cope very well."
