Emiliano Martinez
Was forced to come off his line when Farid El Melali was put through for Angers and took the ball around Martinez to score their opener. 6
Calum Chambers
Playing at right back, the position where Chambers broke into the Southampton, he linked up well at times with Gabriel Martinelli ahead of him.
A reminder that the Englishman can provide cover here, with Hector Bellerin still out injured. 6
Shkodran Mustafi
Lining up alongside an unfamiliar CB partner in Zech Medley, Mustafi didn’t do much to reset his poor stock with the Arsenal fanbase after he was caught out of position for the goal.
Did put in one good cross late in the first half. 4
Zech Medley
Is there much Medley can learn from playing next to Mustafi? Didn’t cover himself in glory for Angers’ goal either as he was caught flat-footed, even if the midfield failed to pressure the opposition. 5
Nacho Monreal
An older head among younger teammates, Monreal had a couple of opportunities to overlap with Reiss Nelson ahead of him but was less involved in the first 45 minutes than Chambers on the opposite flank. 5
Matteo Guendouzi
Playing in his home country, Guendouzi was Arsenal’s busiest player in the first half. While he gave away a few clumsy fouls, the young Frenchman is always looking to make things happen - be that a short pass or a ball down the line. 7
Robbie Burton
Went missing for Angers’ opener. The Arsenal youngster looked a bit spooked as the French side bore down on goal. 4
Gabriel Martinelli
Was lively and had Arsenal’s best chance of the first half, rising to get a head on Mustafi’s cross. Plays with an attacking instinct that’s enjoyable to see. 6
Reiss Nelson
Not able to impose himself in possession as he had done so well against Lyon. Had a snap-shot inside the box but pulled it wide. 5
Eddie Nketiah
Quiet by his standards. Would have wanted to add to his pre-season goal tally tonight. 5
Tyreece John-Jules
Linked up well at times with his fellow attackers and seemed determined to find the equaliser but never managed to find the all-important opening. 5
