Manchester United and Man City might have learnt exact Premier League return date

Arsenal star Dani Ceballos has dropped a hint as to when when Manchester United and Manchester City might return to action after claiming that the Premier League plans to restart on June 20.

Premier League clubs returned to training this week as part of stage one of Project Restart after a vote on Monday.

Talks will be held at the beginning of next week as the Premier League hopes to convince players to take part in full-contact training by end of the week.

However, since then, N'Golo Kante and Troy Deeney have both refused to return over health concerns.

For the Premier League to resume as it hopes to in mid-June, it needs clubs to move quickly into full-contact training in large groups so they can prepare for matches.

A return date of June 12 is still being targeted, although any further delays could see that date pushed back.

The Premier League are waiting for the government to issue guidelines on how elite sports can resume full-contact training in order to vote on stage two of Project Restart.

Whilst June 12 remains the Premier League's official line, although they have stressed they will need to be flexible, Ceballos has let a new date slip.

“We (in the Premier League) are going to start a week late with respect to what is being talked about in Spain, which is June 12, and we are going to start the league on the 20th,” Ceballos told RTVE .

“48 hours ago we passed the tests and the truth is that the entire team have given a negative result.”
