Arsenal FC fans have Man City fear after conceding calamitous goal in Brentford friendly

A lot of Arsenal fans are worried that their club could be in for a rough night when they face Manchester City, following their performance in a friendly against Brentford.

After a three-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, football in England will finally resume next week and some Premier League and Championship clubs have been holding friendlies in order to gain match sharpness ahead of the return to action.

City will take on Arsenal in the second game following the restart on June 17 and the Gunners took on Championship high-fliers Brentford on Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium, slipping to a 3-2 defeat.

The Bees twice came back from behind before finally scoring the winner and all three strikes stemmed from Arsenal mistakes, but it's the first goal in particular that has come in for ridicule.

David Luiz initially did well to win an aerial duel with the Brentford striker but then, instead of playing the simple pass to a teammate, he decided to knock the ball over another opposition player's head, playing himself into trouble.

When the ball landed the two Brentford players challenged the Brazilian to win it back, launching a scintillating counter-attack that ended with Tariqe Fosu blasting into the roof of the net.

Arsenal have become infamous for their calamitous defending in recent times and the problem doesn't appear to have been solved over the break, which has made Arsenal fans very worried about their match against the Blues.

You can see a selection of their reactions below:

The match will see City unite with former assistant manager Mikel Arteta for the first time since he left the Etihad in December to replace Unai Emery as Arsenal manager.

On coming up against Pep Guardiola for the first time, Arteta told Sky Sports’ Football Show : “It is going to be strange, I cannot deny that.

“I know everybody there and I spent four magnificent years with those players and with that club. “But I am really excited as well. I can’t wait to start competing and do what we love most which is to play football.

“It is going to be very special for me but I am looking forward to it.”
