Arsenal favourites to sign 20-year-old right-back and Mikel Arteta hails impact of duo

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Monday, March 8

Arsenal favourites to sign Lamptey

Former Chelsea right-back Tariq Lamptey could be on his way to the Emirates, according to reports in The Sun. Arsenal have emerged as favourites for the 20-year-old's signature as a replacement for Hector Bellerin if the Spaniard is to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Any transfer for Lamptey would not only see Brighton and Hove Albion make a profit on their player but Chelsea would also take a significant cut off the fee due to a sell-on clause in the defender's contract.

Lamptey has only been at Brighton for 12 months yet such has been his progress Arsenal are just one of several clubs monitoring his situation as the summer window draws nearer.

Arteta delivers verdict on players

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reserved praise for two players, in particular, following the 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday.

The boss said he was "extremely happy" with the performance of Callum Chambers and that he though Willian "had some really good moments" in what was a difficult game or the forwards.

The manager added that his team struggled to play their own game for 25 minutes in the second half due to Burnley's style of football. You can read everything Arteta had to say right here.

Crucial seven days for Arsenal

With Arsenal's chances of qualifying for Europe through the Premier League slipping away from the Gunners, Arteta's side are faced with a vital week in order to stay in with a chance of European football next season.

On Thursday Arsenal face an away trip to Greek champions Olympiacos and progressing through the last-16 tie and winning the Europa League is currently the Gunners best bet of staying in Europe next season.

The winner of the Europa League is rewarded not just with the trophy but a place in the following season's Champions League, something which comes with not just prestige but an awful lot of money as well, not to mention the adding attraction for potential new signings.
